This is because, this was the time when the economic and social conditions were comfortable which gave people time to bring out their artistic skills. The architecture was so great and pretty that it was known as the golden age.

Also, the Gupta Empire (Hindi: गुप्त राजवंश) was ruled by members of the Gupta dynasty from around 280 to 550 A.D and covered most of Northern India, parts of eastern Pakistan and what is now western India and Bangladesh. The capital, of the Guptas, was Pataliputra, present day Patna, in the Indian state of Bihar.

The peace and prosperity created under leadership of Guptas enabled the pursuit of scientific and artistic endeavors. Historians place the Gupta dynasty alongside with the Han Dynasty, Tang Dynasty and Roman Empire as a model of a classical civilization. The time of the Gupta Empire is referred to by some scholars as the Golden Age of India in science, mathematics, astronomy, religion and Indian philosophy.

In India history, the Gupta dynasty was the time of advancement for mathematics, science, astronomy, religion, philosophy, cultural activities, art and literature esp. poetry in Sanskrit.

Gupta Empire was the most economically thriving time in Indian History. The empire was smart, fair, and powerful.

During this time a mathematician named Aryabhattadiscovered the first four decimal places of Pi. Astronomers proposed the theory that the Earth was round and they also proposed the theory of gravity. They found out about different planets and started making horoscopes for planet positions.

Algebra developed greatly and the concepts and the concepts of zero and infinity were formed. The symbols for the numbers one to nine were created and later became Hindu Arabic numerals. During the Gupta dynasty the mathematics was more complex then anywhere else.

The architecture, art and Sanskrit literature were also at "the peak of excellence". Many important buildings and temples were constructed during that time. They also created many sophisticated gold and silver coins.

Medicine also advanced and doctors performed many operations. India was also very rich during that period of time so many countries were attracted towards it.

The Gupta dynasty was a "Golden Age" in India literally and figuratively.
