∙ 12y agoIt was a gift from France in te early 1900's to the United states. It eventually was a symbol for any immigrant coimging from Europe to the U.S. that they made it to the free land. On he slate in her arms i think it says "Give me your rich your poor the young and the old we will treat them all the same"
