Several thoughts are low tire pressure, binding strut bearings/mounts, binding chassis parts such as tie rods, a bad rack and pinion, bad Power Steering pump, no fluid in power steering pump or driver with very weak arms. pukenstein@aol.com
how do I remove the key switch from a 1998 ford contour You have to remove the plastic trim around the steering column (behind the steering wheel). Put the key in the ignition cylinder and turn one click. There is a small hole on the side of the ignition cylinder, stick a small screwdriver into this hole and press hard. Pull out the ignition cylinder with the key.
You won't want to. If you disconnect it, your steering will be almost too hard to turn in normal driving.
2003 ford expodition steering wheel is hard to turn.
If it had a carburetor , it wouldn't be hard to replace - it's fuel injected
Yes they do have struts and they aren't hard to change
I have a 2000 Contour and there was a 19mm stud between the armrest and seat. It is hard to see and get the wrench on.
Since nobody could help me - I drilled and hacksawed the thing to hell - Literally destroyed the metal and plastic, and shredded the fabric. Ford Contour and the Ford Motor Company is a ROYAL PIECE OF SCHITTT in my opinion. I have hated driving and owning the Ford Contour as long as I've had it. I will drive it into the ground and I will never ever own another piece of schhittt from Ford ever again. That company can rot in hell for the schitttt it offers to hard working consumers!
You order one from your Ford Dealer and pay $70, or you go to a junk yard and look for a junked Ford Contour. That shouldn't be hard, since mine should be junked, but I'm still driving it. You are probably low on power steering fluid. Otherwise, it is worse, and your steering pump has gone out or is going to give out.
Check your power steering.
um that is hard to say
