Very simple , the breather system has clogged up . The moisture caused by cool running temperatures does not get drawn through the air box & burnt . This leaves water building up in the cam cover area . You then find this yellow / white / shite brown mayo looking gunge . Short winter journeys are the biggest vause as the engine never gets hot enough to drive off the water . The gunge can also cause pressure to build in te engine & force oil past valvew stem seals & you burn oil , stuffing your catalytic converter . At worst the engine runs dry of oil & all the bits stop very suddenly ( oh dear ! ) . If i remeber correctly the seperator sits at te back of thehead & has a hose that joins the airbox . Clean them all out , amke sure the mesh in the seperator is shite free as it can build very quickly if you only wash away the mayo . better still replace the seperator & clean out ALL of the mayo . THEN enjoy a long drive to really heat up your motor & drive off the remaining moisture in the engine . Oh and make sure the thermostat is working , if the engine takes for ever to get hot & very little heat is felt with the blower on full , you will always get mayo , vauxhall & hilmans were prone to this malady ( Now i am showing my years of experience ) BUT check the breather system first , it si the easiest to get at / clean & check out
have fun , i know i would ( not)
Because the hairs in your nose filter the air
If by breather you mean the air filter......yes.
yes
an air filter
on the breather box below the air filter
Because the breather system(Crankcase ventilation system) was routed to the air filter. Most people remove the line going to the air filter and route it to a breather filter which you may obtain from any Harley parts retailer. The problem is if you only ride your bike occasionally, it will continue to squirt when you first start it, do after installing the breather filter, remember to put a drain pan under it when you start it.
Under the air breather... Remove air breather and look down right there and not too bad to get to. Hope it helps.
Crankcase breather tube.
The reason the car cuts out is becasue of a build up of sludge in the breather pipe on the bottom of the air box, to solve this problem, remove the top of the air filter (located on the top of the engine) will be about 8 screws, lift up the box to show the carb, one of the pipes connecting to the air box will have a yellow sludge in it, remove as much as possile, look up the pipe on the bottom of the air filter, this too will have some sludge, once these have both been cleaned the problem will be solved!!!!The sludge is formed becasue of the amount of shortish journeys being made in the car meaning the engine is not clearing enough waste out properlyAlso it is a good idea to run a treatment of REDEX through the system to give it a good clear out.
Remove the top to the air filter housing. The air filter housing can be found in the engine compartment. The air filter will easily lift out. Put the new air filter in.
pcv is bad.
It is a hose that connects from the air filter to valve cover that stops contamenents from staying in the engine.
