Did you have a CV joint go by any chance? My halfshaft came apart recently and punched about a 2" wide hole in my transmission. Not wanting to buy a new transmission I managed to patch it with a piece of sheet metal and some JB weld. Hope this helps.
You change the 2008 silverado oil transmission whenever you take it for service.
Most Chevy Silverado radiators have oil and transmission coolers to help prolong life and performance. All have transmission coolers but fewer have oil coolers.
there is no dipstick. Instead there is a bolt on the side of the transmission that you remove. WHen you see oil coming out of that hole its full
No. If trans oil is coming out that opening, you have problems that would require removal of the trans.
in the hole in the valv cover
dextron III
On manual transmission until oil flows out of full level hole. on most manual transmission the refill hole is the oil level. On automatic transmission if no oil shows on dipstick add a quart at a time.
Remove the transmission oil pan for access to filter
Remove transmission oil pan to access filter. Clean oil pan , replace oil, filter, and gasket
Pour the transmission fluid down the hole the transmission dip stick goes in. You will need a funnel to do it right. WRONG! Do not pour transmission oil into your engine oil compartment! There is no dipstick for transmission oil, at least not on the manual transmission. To fill the transmission, you must pump or pour fluid into the fill hole on the side of the transmission until it dribbles back out.
which trans automatic or stick 4x4 or 2 wd ?
If it wasn't ignorance (putting oil in wrong hole), then it's probably the rear oil seal.
