Why is there a clicking noise in the rear end of a 1978 ford f150?

the rear u-joint is probalby dry of grease and needs replaced. Replace both on the rear driveshaft if you are going to fix it.
Or, even worse, your rear differential is out of oil. Check the first suggestion first though, as that's usually the problem.
