I'm Canadian and even in the U.S. our governments would have us believe that there aren't enough men/women going into nursing, but it's not true. In Canada it came to light that many nurses are just sitting at home and why ... because they want to have nurses work part-time and they simply don't get the hours in they use too. Also they often get the lesser jobs because the Head Nurses get the choice jobs with the most pay. I talked to nurses about this. Then there is the Union to contend with. Canadians citizens want nurses to come into Canada from anywhere in the world but because of the Union there is a stipulation that nurses have to take at least another years course in Canada and the exams to prove they can operate on the same level as our Canadian nurses. Some of the nurses (especially American and British) are great nurses and need no extra training. It's a bunch of mumbo jumbo by our government and if they spit out the truth they just don't want to be bothered to put the money into the education of nurses and hiring nurses. Training to be a nurse is extremely expensive with little governmental help so young women that had once wanted to go into nursing are either going into other areas of the medical field or other careers.

Overall job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be excellent, but may vary by employment and geographic setting. Some employers report difficulty in attracting and retaining an adequate number of RNs. Employment of RNs is expected to grow much faster than the average and, because the occupation is very large, 581,500 new jobs will result, among the largest number of new jobs for any occupation. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of job openings will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who leave the occupation.

Write a short note on decrease in demand?

A decrease in the willingness and ability of buyers to purchase a good at the existing price, illustrated by a leftward shift of the demand curve. A decrease in demand is caused by a change in a demand determinant and results in a decrease in equilibrium quantity and a decrease in equilibrium price. A demand decrease is one of two demand shocks to the market. The other is a demand increase. A demand decrease results from a change in one of the demand determinants. The leftward shift of the demand curve disrupts the market equilibrium and creates a temporary surplus. The surplus is eliminated with a lower price. The comparative static analysis of the demand decrease is that equilibrium quantity decreases and equilibrium price decreases.
