Why is there not any pressure in the cooling system?

== == No pressure means a leak (Internal or External) or a bad radiator cap. Try the radiator cap first as it is the easiest to replace. If pressure still fails to build, inspect your system carefully. Look for ANY evidence of moisture on engine components and try to find the leaking gasket. Also be aware that some gaskets can give way inside your engine releasing pressure/ antifreeze into your Combustion chambers and/ or oil reservoirs causing irreparable damage.

How can you test the cooling pressure system?

The cooling system can be pressurized using a cooling system
pressure tester. When engine is cool remove the fill cap and attach
the tester, since caps are different styles on many vehicles an
adapter may be needed. Pump the tester up until the maximum
pressure (most caps have max psi on them) of the cooling sytem is
reached. If there is a fast leak the max psi may not need to be
obtained before the leak is revealed. There is a video at
DenLorsTools.com in the tech article section that shows a pressure
tester being used, it also has information about purging air from
the cooling system after the leak has been repaired.

What can cause high pressure in the cooling system of a Saturn?

High pressure in a car's cooling system might be caused by
exhaust gases from normal engine combustion entering the cooling
system. The exhaust gases might be entering the coolant due to a
head gasket that is leaking, or perhaps even due to a cracked
engine block. Note that under normal operation, cooling systems are
pressurized due to the heat expansion of the coolant. However, if a
fairly new radiator and/or hose has burst, or if the coolant hoses
connecting to the radiator are rigid with pressure, this is
abnormally high pressure.
