Chevy Cavalier leaking coolant along firewall coming out of an elbow unsure if this is a sign of a leaking heater core or if this hose is supposed to be connected to something?
green fluid is engine coolant. as this is showing up near the transmission this could be leaking from the head gasket or from a freeze plug. you will just have to trace back where it is coming from remember there are freeze plugs behind transmission which are not viible while transmission is in vehicle
Leaking or loosing coolant? If it is leaking then where is the leak? If it is just loosing coolant with no apparent leak, then you more than likely have a blown head gasket or cracked head. If there is coolant in the oil, or white sweet smelling smoke coming from the exhaust you definitely have an internal problem. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to drive this vehicle.
How can you see where the coolant leak is coming from It seems to me that its coming from between transmission and motor?

What may be the problem is antifreeze is leaking in the engine compartment up by the fire wall in the middle of the motor but not in the vehicle and it is not coming from heater hoses?
if it appears to be coming from where the cylinder head meets the engine block, it is the head gasket. if it appears near the intake manifold and head, it is the intake gasket (or intake AND exhaust gasket on a straight six or Chrysler slant six). if it is coming from the engine block it is a freeze plug. some v-6 and v-8 engines are common for springing coolant leaks at the intake gaskets.
Usually this is steam caused by boiling your coolant. Depending on where its coming from this can mean 2 different things. Is it coming from your engine compartment? If so then your coolant boiled over or you blew a radiator hose. Is it coming from the exhaust? If so then you most likely have a blown head gasket or cracked head, so your coolant is leaking into the cylinder and its getting burned/boiled there. Hope…
could be leaking from a head gasket and trickling down or your heater core is leaking and driping out of the condensation drain from inside the cab. most likely its your heater core. check the fire wall above the starter and look for that drain line. if it is dripping and is colored (green or orange) its coolant and coming from heater core. that's a bear to replace. good luck.
If it is just plain water, then you have either a leaking windshield or more than likely a stopped up A/C drain line. Look under the car passenger side and find the drain line and unclog it. If, on the other hand you have coolant leaking, then you have a leaking heater core, which must be replaced. Taste and smell the liquid. If it smells and taste sweet it is coolant and not just water.
