Try this; FUEL PUMP SHUT-OFF SWITCH After a collision, if the engine cranks but does not start, the fuel pump shut-off switch may have been activated. The "Fuel Reset" indicator light will illuminate in the instrument cluster. The shut-off switch is a device intended to stop the electric fuel pump when your vehicle has been involved in a substantial jolt. 1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position. 2. Check the fuel system for leaks. 3. If no fuel leak is apparent, reset the fuel pump shut-off switch by pushing in the reset button. 4. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Pause for a few seconds and return the key to the OFF position. 5. Make a further check for leaks in the fuel system. Roadside emergencies The fuel pump shut-off switch is located in the passenger's foot well, behind the kick panel.
You can try hitting the gas tank. When mine was going out, hitting the gas tank would jar the fuel pump enough to get it working again, but only temporarily. If this works, you know the fuel pump is going.
defective pump, in tank.
You will known when the fuel pump is working on the 1989 Dodge Dynasty because the engine will get fuel from the fuel tank. If the fuel pump is not working, the motor will be unable to idle or run.
you mean your fuel pump was working until you ran out of gas and now it doesn't work? yes, if you have an electric in-tank fuel pump, you need a new one. fuel pumps in the tank require lubrication to prevent them from overheating, and the fuel in your tank keeps the fuel pump "wet". when you run out of gas, you run it "dry" and will destroy the fuel pump.
Both are parts of a car. The fuel pump is either situated in the fuel tank or sometimes in the engine of the car and works to pump the fuel from the tank to and around the engine. The fuel line is a thin long pipe witch the fuel does travel through to get from the fuel tank to the engine. the fuel pump sends the fuel through the fuel line.
The fuel pump in the gas tank is not working. It is a common problem with Gm products. They last about 100,000 miles and then quit all of a sudden usually with a full load of gas in the tank. Pull the tank and replace the pump.
The main fuel pump can be noisy if it does not get enough fuel, mostly if the in-tank fuel pump is not working. For example if your gas tank is pretty full, you most likely do not hear any noise since the weight/pressure of a full gas tank is providing more pressure for the main fuel pump which is mounted underneath the car in a subframe. So if your main fuel pump is getting noisy with an almost empty gas tank it's most likely the in-tank fuel pump that is not working. Also check the corresponding relay (usually white) underneath the passenger glove compartment. Bottom line, If your fuel is pump noisy, but you are still driving, your main pump most likely is still good while the in-tank pump is not working.
Probable it is the fuel pump in the front tank. When you change it at the switch listen to see if you can hear the pump working, if not got to remove tank or bed and replace pump.
An electric fuel pump works better and lasts longer when it pushes fuel and when it is cooled by the fuel it sits in.
It may be in the tank with the pump. Is the pump still working?
Follow the fuel lines from the front to the fuel tank. The fuel pump is connected to the tank. You'll have to remove the tank to remove the pump. Follow the fuel lines from the front to the fuel tank. The fuel pump is connected to the tank. You'll have to remove the tank to remove the pump.
Unfortunately it is in the gas tank between the seats. To get to it you have to remove the tank working underneath the car, and then remove the pump from the tank.
