Medical Transcription is the keyboarding (into a typewriter or computer) of reports from dictation recorded by a doctor or health professional pertaining to medical information. History and physicals, admission notes, office visit notes, operations, hospital discharge reports and consultations are just a few of the (work) types of reports that are created by the medical transcriptionist.
Transcription that is performed in the doctor's office (as oppsed to sent out to a company) presumably will result in the typed record being available sooner. But nowadays this field is now very flexible. People are now doing their medical transcription away from the medical office. It is either outsourced from a company that has workers doing it in their office or they outsource it from individuals working from home.

∙ 10y agoMedical transcription software is used to manage medical dictation, it allows doctors to take digital notes. This improves their workflow and decreases their overall costs. Speech recognition software however are technology that makes the job of an MT easier - some people fear that it might replace MTs but the technology is not yet perfect.
