Have you tried a new spark plug? Having same problem. It could be one of many things. Plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, or coil pack. It could also be but rarely, the EGR valve, or a plugged catalytic converter. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, I would change the catalytic converter. Had the same problem it was because of an injector leaking into the manifold.
might be a misfire in a cylinder...
a cylinder misfire might be happening. check your plugs and wires for bad connection
If cylinder 3 on a Ford Explorer is misfiring, it might be possible to fix it by changing the coil pack for that cylinder. The spark plug might also need to be taken out and re-gapped or replaced. If neither of these options work, the spark plug wire can be checked.
you might check the coilpak
I'm not a mechanic / technician but it might be the spark plug , spark plug wire , not the proper air / fuel mixture to that engine cylinder , and there are probably other causes
Hi. I also have a 2001 Kia Sportage with a misfire on my number 1 cylinder. I was looking up some info on the forums, and one person said it's the cylinder cloest to the radiator. I haven't confirmed it yet, but it might just be.
the misfire my be caused by improper sparkplug gaps or bad injectors
burnt valve...
The same thing that causes them on on all cars.. faulty spark plug/wire. Sometimes you might get a bad coil pack. cross your fingers and hope it's not the case as they get costly..
Runa compression check. If it has low compression in that cylinder you might have a burned or sticking valve.
It might help if you specified why WHAT was important in random variables.
You might want to replace ignition calbles too.
