Normal wear & tear. A well lubricated and adjusted chain will last a lot longer. Lubricate with a specific motorcycle chain lubricant at least once a week (more often in bad weather or if being ridden off road). When replacing chain also replace both front and rear sprockets (the sprockets wear as well as the chain) and for road use an automatic chain oiler will reduce wear. How much Slack in timing belt on a Chevy 350?

The 350 Chevy does not have a belt, it has a chain. Slack in the chain is normal as long as it is not excessive. A better determining factor on when to replace the chain, is the condition of the gears and if the chain is noisy.

There's a rattling sound in my motorcycle engine especially when it's idling what could be the problem?

Usually, a rattle at idle means your cam chain is loose. As your engine goes faster the crank shaft pulls on the chain and takes up some of the slack. It's a little difficult to tell from such a short description and not knowing what type of engine.

Can a chain tensioner be placed on top of a chain?

Not really. The top side of the chain is where the tension goes when you pedal, so first it'd only pull the tensioner straight, then you could still have slack on the bottom run of the chain simultaneously.

How do you tighten a moterbike chain?

This is a fairly simple procedure, and will only take a few minutes. Chain tension is something I will check prior to every ride as I have had the misfortune of suffering the consequences of an improperly adjusted chain. First, check the manufacturers recommendation for the slack allowed in the chain; this is usually between one and one and a half inches. If the chain on your bike is not within this limit then it needs to be tightened. To make the adjustment, loosen the axle nut enough so that the rear wheel can be slid toward the rear of the bike. When the chain tension reaches the recommended slack, that is where the wheel needs to be set. At this point, tighten the axle nut to the proper torque. The motorcycle chain has been adjusted. It is important to make sure that the rear wheel is on the same mark on both sides of the wheel. If it is not on the same mark, that means the wheel is mounted lopsided. A lopsided wheel will cause the chain to break; trust me on this, I speak from experience.
