You should have someone look at your master cylinder, sounds like the diaphragm has a hole in it.
If it is a manual, and like a 1997 cavalier, it will be located below the brake fluid reservoir, buried under hoses and is marked "trans". I was able to get to it in a 1997 from above, but scraped the heck out of my arm. Probably best to get at it from below, but so far I have only tried once, so don't know if from below is easier!
Unless you own an A/C pressure tester, the best way is to bring it in.
Use only DOT3 brake fluid.
i have a 1997 chevy cavalier it well only go 30 miles hour wene flood it well boug down to about 15 miles hour but it wellstar wrigt up just no power
There might be a separate fuse for the lower brake lights ( just a guess )
You ONLY lose brake pressure if you have a leak somewhere ! - This can be in any wheel cylinder , the master cylinder, or a fractured brake line. Till you find the leak, keep your master cylinder topped up daily. If the brake fluid reservoir remains full and the brake pedal sinks to the floor as you are waiting at a stop light, the master cylinder is at fault.
Check for proper fuel pressure in the 1997 Talon. The engine appears to be starving for fuel and only has enough pressure to start.
If all have failed possible fuse or brake light switch If only one has failed bulb or wiring to that fixture only
The instructions should come with the tach. If there are none, get in touch with the manufacturer. no tachometer will work straight out of the box with a cavalier of that year, you must buy an adapter. it will only show half RPM
Brake lights only come on when you press the pedal. The brake light is either a different bulb or filament in a dual-filament bulb than the tail light.
I can only assume that Z0, means Z06. There was not a Z06, in 97. And the brake calipers are the same for the two years.
If it is the same as a 1997 cavalier, manual, you will open the hood, look almost directly below the brake fluid reservoir near the back right area of the hood, near the base of the drivers side windshield wiper. Below the brake reservoir, below several hoses, etc., you will see a flip cap handle marked "trans", if I remember correctly. I scraped the heck out of my arm just to get to it, and you can only use fluid purchased from the dealership or else void any warranties. If it's a manual, sorry, I have no idea!
