What is wrong if you cannot get gas to your pilot light and you have already changed the electric control valve?

have you checked to see that gas is getting to the valve if it is the pilot could be stopped up pull it try to clean it soak in spray carb cleaner ect. blow out with compressed air or replace with new oneAnswerTake the tubing loose from the pilot assembly and depress the pilot valve on the gas valve to see if gas is getting to the assembly. If it is, you have a clogged pilot orifice; take a thin piece of wire and clean it out. If you have no gas getting to the orifice, you still have a bad gas valve or your gas is not turned on.

where can i get a pilot valve?

where can i get a pilot valve for gas air compressor

What is a redundant gas valve?

A redundant gas valve has two or three valve operators physically in series but wired in parallel with one another. This built in saftey feature allows any operator (pilot or main) to block gas from getting to the main burner. EX: standing pilot, intermittent pilot, and direct burner are classified as redundant gas valves.

Why isn't the gas hot water pilot not lighting?

Gas not turned on to water heater. Gas valve on water heater not set to pilot setting. Faulty gas valve. Igniter for lighting pilot not working.

Why is it necessary to have a pilot safety shutoff on a gas furnace?

so when the pilot goes out the gas valve is shut off

When pilot light goes out on a boiler is gas escaping?

No. The pilot valve is closed when no flame is sensed by the thermocouple.

What does a pilot light do on a heater?

it heats up the thermo couple which opens up the gas control valve allowing gas to flow to the main burner. if the pilot goes out the thrmo couple will cool and shut the gas valve so gas does not come out

Why have both a thermopile and thermocouple?

A thermopile generates electricity from the heat of a pilot light. It generates about 750 mV that turns on the main gas valve to the fireplace.A thermocouple is heated by the pilot light but it uses pressure to hold the pilot light gas supply valve open. When the thermocouple is heated, pressure increases holding open the main gas valve. If it cools down, the pressure goes down and closes the gas valve.

Replaced the pilot generator on a Laars lite and it generates 670 to 700 millivolts however pilot won't stay lit when releaseing the valve Is it a bad gas valve Is it worth the money to replace?

Assuming you are getting that measurement at the valve would indicate a strong pilot generator and if the valve still will not open then I would pronounce the gas valve DOA. To replace the valve cost can vary from $350 to $650 depending on the Contractor due keep in mind that you've replaced the Pilot Generator and now a valve to finsh the job right install a new Pilot Body with the correct orifice and that will round out a reliable system. Good luck! Tim J&K Heating and Cooling Inc.

Why won't pool heater light when the pilot is on?

You may have a faulty thermostat that isn't closing when heat is called for. Also a faulty gas valve could be the problem. Also, be sure that the gas valve isn't in the "Pilot" position. This is the position you turn the gas valve to when lighting thepilot light. If your pilot light isn't staying on after being lit, then you may have a bad thermocouple.

What causes a gas hot water pilot lite to go out?

No, that is part of the function of the pilot light. To light the burner and to keep the gas valve open. The thermocouple sits in the flame of the pilot and produces a small electrical current that keep the gas valve open. When the tank cools down, the thermostat opens the valve to the burner so that it can light. When the pilot goes out, it is usually the thermocouple that is bad.

Does rotating a gas valve on an indoor fireplace counterclockwise open or close the gas line?

All gas fireplaces have to have a shut-off valve within 10' and that will turn so the key or the handle is parallel to leave gas on and perpendicular to turn gas off. The valve inside the fireplace turns but not indiscriminately. The inner valve will turn to the pilot setting and depress to light the pilot. Once the pilot os stable the knob will un-depress and turn to the On position. For a manual valve this will turn on the gas flow to the main burners. If using a switch or remote turning the valve to On leaves the fireplace valve in a Ready position so the switch or remote will turn on the gas.
