Have you checked the onboard computer diagnostic codes? That will tell you what's going on far more than speculation. It's difficult to tell you what's wrong with your vehicle if you just explain what it's doing. But the Computer Monitors everything constantly, and is more than willing to tell you what it knows. Get a code scanner for your vehicle. Use it often.
