Only in their chosen career, if they have one.
They generally don't seek to be celebrities, and should not be reviled if they have the same faults as anyone else might.... who cares if they drink too much, or have too many partners, get caught speeding, if they can still do they job they are employed to do.
If a non-celebrity can get caught speeding, pay the fines and not suffer any more grief, then why should Mr or Ms X?
It only matters if they are claiming to be fine, upstanding citizens.
They don't always, but its just because they are famous and extremely under pressure, nothings a secret. If they fall down the stairs, sooomeehoww its in the paper next day. So they might make bad decisions, or make mistakes, like every normal human being and.. I don't know, I guess if you want to be like them, and they start.. doing cocaine or something, you might, too?
Or some of them seem to do things just to get in the headlines. Like Lindsay Lohan going gay, pretty sure that's just for attention. So not all her little followers are probably going to turn gay, too. And being gay isn't something that happens over night.
some kids waatch ther fav celeb like in a Jackie Chan movie sack some dude and a kid will copy and get screwed
They are terrible role models for the most part.
Not all. the ones who have clearly worked and trained and are creative, and show that side. and make it clear that their public personality is a part they play. Like
Lady Gaga. She clearly is herself and her character.
A good trend is also that the once nerdy intellegent people are beginning to be recognized as holding our future, more than just someone who can play a game well, but doesnt have a lot else to give. (thats an extreme example, certainly there are people who cross both types)
If you wanted to idolize someone, be honest with yourself? Is it just that they are attractive? Or do they make you feel dangerous or exciting? Admit the attraction, find the person behind the excitement. is it still someone you want to idolize.
Think ahead if you can. would you want your oWN children to idolize this person? O if you cant, perhaps a sibling or someone you feel protective towards.
This is especially true of some of the more lurid reality shows, or insipid might be a better word.
There are probably more good idols out there that are terrible idols using their persona. and there are a ton who are bad idols through and through. There are some good ones too. but more its the people doing the idolizing thats a problem.
Inspiration is healthier.
We can blame the media for the proponderence of shock value celebrities.
The generation that were kids in the sixties and 70's grew up in a hybrid of traditioin and rebellious dreams.
We put those dreams into our media, intending it to inspire people to not be afraid to live their dreams and work hard. instead we created a culture of entitlement.
When a society gets to that point the next step is the critical one... on one hand the trend to popularize intellegence, is a good one. But a lot of the idols today are simply idiot fodder like.
If we dont turn back towards the ethics of learning, innovation, hardwork, courtesy and cooperation, that allowed us to rise. American society will fall the other way, already popularized by many of these idols. Decadence.
We all enjoy a guilty pleasure now and then, and i could care less who sleeps with who or what as long as the parties are old enough to agree and are willing. Glam and outrageousness are fun. enjoy them.
But take them as entertainment, and look to who is behind them. let that person inspire you, or not.
yes because they do good stuff for other communities and help people when they need help
think it through than ask
over75of 100 are since there spoiled also, fans copy hem so when they sack a dude a kid wiil do it
because some celebrities are not to good at being role models or have never been looked at as role models.
and most of the celebrities are not doing very good in their own life.
Yes they do because they influence young people they should do so cautionary and carefully..
That is a question for the individual child. Athletes have been viewed as role models and some well deservedly so. But it is entirely up to the person who a role model should be and who shouldn't be a role model.
Celebrities are only pretending to be somebody they are not, and to gain the largest audience. What kind of role model could they be?
Many male celebrities have become underwear models. Pete Rose was a commercial model for Jockey, and Tom Brady has recently been mentioned to be in negotiations to model Calvin Klein underwear.
Yes. It is very important to have good role-models because it affects the outcome of the teenagers life choices.
Celebrities are role models for some kids

Because American Teenagers and Adults hang on every word they say.
Yes , some celebrity role models are good role models although some celebrities should not be looked at as 'role models'. honestly.. do we really want our kids and community acting like some spoiled rich snobs or ones who only care about themselves?. occassionally we do find the odd celeb that can influence us in a positive way.
Yes they do because they influence young people they should do so cautionary and carefully..

They are only human so it is as dangerous for them as anyone else! Of course celebrities are often seen as role models so it is a concern that some people may copy celebrities drug taking behavior.
Of course they do! Children see celebrities all the time and are evidently influenced by them
Of course. Whether good or bad models, students will model them.
Celebrities are only pretending to be somebody they are not, and to gain the largest audience. What kind of role model could they be?
Celebrities get into abusive relationships/ short term relationships which are bad enough. They are also categorised are 'bad role models' to some people. They take drugs and alcohol, they make our self esteem decrease and they act inappropriately and dress inappropriately. (Good example of this is in their music videos) but if you weren't being bias, there are some celebrities who are actually good role models.
