possibly to avoid Immigration in developded coutries and for the poor coutries to be fit enough to compete and co-operate with other coutries. states have to be independent and not rely on other states for grants and soliciting donations.

If rich countries help poor countries, poor countries can sometimes even become more educated than rich countries and may do things that we never thought were possible. Like find a cure to HIV. Rich countries giving money to poor countries is immensely helpful, but every rich person doesn't believe in this.
