Volvo motors - especially the D16 - have proven to be a bit problematic. It could be electrical issues, you could be experiencing problems with your injectors or injector cups, it could be a malfunction with the turbo... you really need to go to the Volvo dealership and have them run a diagnostic, unless you have either a laptop with the Volvo software or a compatible NexIQ system. I know it's not cheap, but it'll be a lot cheaper to diagnose and take care of the problem now than it will be to have something go asunder and deal with it when it's too late.
Go to the turn on the south of the tractor and shake your remote to get the charged jump and jump it.
Yes, a lawn tractor can be jump started with a car battery, in the same manner as another car can be jump started.
Typically a charger is not meant ot "jump start" and engine. It provides a slow, regulated charge to the battery. A car battery or fully charged battery will typically provide enough pwoer to jump start your tractor. I recommend charging your battery for a number of hours (or overnight) till completely recharged. If the tractor will no start without a jump, your battery may be in need of replacement.

If it's a later model where the battery is in the boot/trunk, then you must still jump start it via the engine bay. There are two terminals provided for clipping jump leads too. The positive near the fuse box top right of engine bay and the ground point on the left side. They are marked positive + and negative -The manual shows these locations.
