Rotor Pick-up coil
coil, distributor, distributor cap, plugs, or wires.
if you have good spark coming from the coil but its not getting to the plugs then the only possibilities are either the spark plug wires or the distributor cap and rotor. gm tech 10 years
Check your ignition control module, it is located under the distributor cap and your distributor wires connect into. If not this, check the coil again, and maybe even the ECM.
Where all the wires plug into. That is the ignition coil. The ignition coil is inside the distributor behind the cap. Remove the distributor cap screws, remove the cap and you will see the coil.
A distributor cap holds all the wires, A coil only has 1 wire in the top of it.
It is in the distributor, pull off the cap and it is held in with 2 screws and has 2 wires coming off of it. dr_performance@hotmail.com
Ignition problem probably, Check wires, coil & cap to start
The coil wire runs from the coil to the center of the distributor cap.The coil wire runs from the coil to the center of the distributor cap.
Ok what kind of vehicle ? Generally no fire could be coil, distributo cap , rotor button, could be firing but spark plug wire so grounded out you get no spark too.
Failed coil wire, failed rotor, failed capFailed coil wire, failed rotor, failed cap
The spark travels from the coil to the distributor then from the distributor to the plugs. So if you have spark going into the distributor but not coming out to the plugs, I would blame the distributor cap and rotor being at fault.
