The effect of a force depends on the mass of the object to which it's being applied. Small force on a low-mass object produces the same identical motion as large force on a large-mass object. So ... in addition to other mathematical and physical problems with the connection between force and escape ... it's impossible to name one force that always has the same effect on any object large or small.

But escape velocity is truly a speed at which any object, large or small size, large or small mass, can enter earth orbit. There is another speed at which any object can escape earth and enter solar orbit, and another speed at which any object can escape the sun and leave the solar system. Specifying the speed eliminates the necessity of specifying the characteristics of the object you're talking about.

How is the force of earths gravity overcome when an object is launched into space?

When on Earth, you can escape if you move away from the Earth at the "escape" speed. Gravity will slow you down and you will reach zero speed at an infinite distance.

What is the speed necessary to escape the earths gravity?

The speed at which a rocket must travel to escape the gravitational pull of the earth is 25,000 miles per hour.

Why must a spacecraft reach escape velocity to be able to go to space?

A rocket needs to travel at 7 miles-per-second or about 25,000-miles-per-hour to leave the pull of earth's gravitational force, and reach outer space. This speed is known as escape velocity.

Why does a space shuttle have to travel so fast?

Space shuttles must travel at 11km/s so that they can escape the force of gravity. the force of gravity is approximately 9.81. If you don't travel at a greater speed than the force of gravity, the rocket will not launch.

What is escape volocity?

Escape velocity is the speed you would have to go to escape gravity.

What is Rocket speed per sec to escape from earth gravity?

the rocket speed required to escape out of the earth's gravity is known as escape velocity which is numerically equal to 11.2 km per sec.

What kind of force is needed to launch rocket ships?

to break off from earths gravity they need to reach speed of 11.2 kilometers per second

What speed does the space shuttle have to reach to escape earths gravity?

17,500 miles per hour puts the shuttle in orbit. BUT the gravity is still there. I'm fact there is about 90% of the gravity while the shuttle is on the ground. That great rate of speed is required to keep the shuttle from falling back to earth. At that speed the shuttle is basically falling around the planet.

To escape from a planets gravity an object must reach a speed called the?

Escape Velocity

An engine with a speed that can escape earth's gravity?

space probe

Why you must study escape velocity?

You don't. "Escape velocity" is a meaningless number. "Escape velocity" is the speed at which a CANNON SHELL must be fired in order to escape from the Earth's gravity well. With a powered rocket, you can "escape" from the Earth's gravity at ANY speed - as long as you have enough fuel.

In order to escape the gravity of earth a space vehicle near earth must have a speed of about?

about 25,000 mph to completely escape earth's gravity
