It is known that the Bolsheviks killed the Czar and his family, however, for many years it was not entirely clear if Anastasia also died. In theory, had the Czarists (also known as White Russians) tried to overthrow the communist Dictatorship and bring back the monarchy, they would have needed Anastasia, as the last legitimate claimant to the throne. But that never happened, and it is now believed that Anastasia did die with the other members of her family, at the hands of the Bolsheviks.

Who was Anastasia Romonov?

The fourth and youngest Czarevna ( Crown Princess) of the family of Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia. She is also correctly styled a Grand Duchess.

What age was Anastasia when family were executed in Russia that is the last tsars family?

Anastasia Nicholaevna Romonova was killed along with the rest of her family on 17/18 July 1918 by the Bolsheviks under command of Lt. Jakob Yurovsky. DNA matter form the gravesite of the Imperial Family conclusively proves that Nicholas, the Tsar, Alexandra, the Empress the Tsarevitch Alexei and Grand Duchess' Olga, Tatiana, Marie and Anastasia perished together in the cellar room of the Ipatiev house in Ekaterinburg 17/18 July 1918. We must put an end to all of this nonsense that one or more of the Imperial Russian family may have survived. Sad story it may be we must maintain historical accuracy for the sake of future scholars and the rest of mankind. Jay W Fisher supv Romanov history 17 October 2009 ======================================================= Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna was born June 18, 1901. The Bolsheviks killed her family July 17, 1918, when Anastasia would have just turned 17. She was originally presumed to have been killed with her family, but some have speculated that she escaped death. This view is highlighted in a fictitious manner in the 1997 movie "Anastasia," which was the first animation feature film produced by Fox Animation Studios. Later this spring, DNA testing of remains found near the Tsar's family's mass grave will be concluded to determine if the remains belong to Anastasia.

Is Anastasia of Sirmium the same person as Anastasia Romanov?

No. the Anastasia you mention is medieval or earlier Middle-east- say Russo-Turkish theatre, saint. Anastasia Romanov, more properly Anastasia Nicolaievna- the daughter of Nicholai ( it would be bad usage to refer to her on the street, as Anastasia Romanov during the Empire, as bad as yelling ( Hey Betty Windsor!) at Queen Elizabeth II /. show some respect, the Last name was- understood and understated. she did not use the Anastasia Romanov handle until after the Diaspora, circa l922. Floreat Anastasia!

Who was Anastasia Romanov?

Anastasia Romanova was the fourth and last daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia she had on younghr brother and three older sisters. She is correctly styled Her Imperial Highness The Grand Duchess (ranked above a Princess) Anastasia Nicolaievna. This means Anastasia the daughter of Nicolai (the Russian form of Nicholas). She was born on June 18 (as was Paul McCartney) in 1901 in St. Petersburg, then Imperial Russia. her older sisters names wear Olga, Tatiana, and Maria (also called Marie) and and her little brother's name was Alexei. She was about 5'1" tall, her sister Tatiana was the tallest at about 5'8". She was the imp of the family and did many pranks. Her nickname was Shvibzik (meaning "imp" in Russian). Anastasia didn't like school work, but was very good at art like her sisters. She liked taking photos with her family when they were on holidays and every place else. They loved being in motion pictures and they recorded themselves playing outside as well as dancing, roller skating, and playing on the Standart (the family yacht). She was 17 at the time of her death in Ekaterinburg in Siberia. About 6 months ago remains were found near where the Tsar's bones were found. She DID die with her family in 1918 DNA tests in the 1990s on the remains found in a grave prove it was indeed Aanastasia. Therefore, Anna Anderson was not Anastasia.

Name some good historcal novels about Anastasia Romanov She of all The Russia's?

When I was younger I read books about Anastasia's time period, the ones I read were: "Anastasia, the last Grand Duchess" in the royal Diary series, and "The Secret Countess" by Eva Ibbotson, I hope this could help at least a bit. A link to "Anastasia, the Last Grand Duchess": http://www.amazon.com/Anastasia-Grand-Duchess-Russia-Diaries/dp/0439129087 There sure are! There are the usual derivatives of the movies and stuff in, loosely the comic book vein. More seriously there are good historical novels such as Curse of the Romanovs in which Anastasia is only a peripheral character most of the attention focused on the sole Male member of the young clan, Prince Alexis. The novel involves time travel and black magic and cool culture shock as Alexis encounters modern Manhattan and is most impressed by- It figures, Cell Phones!

Why was Anastasia The Last Grand Duchess arrested?

They (her and her family) were arrested because the Tsar (her father) was thought to be unfair and a threat and they also thought The Tsarina (her mother) was a German spy ( she was born in Germany and they were fighting agains Germany). In many views the arrest was unfair, unjust, and wrong. The Tsar was not the best Tsar but he was not the problem. If you wan to lean more about Anastasia i suggest you read "Anastasia: the last grand duchess" from the royal diaries series. It not only describes their story but you get to know them for who they were. And it tells you a fabulous story leading up to her unfair and gruesome death.

Was there a real princess from Russia named Anastasia?

There were several Princesses named Anastasia in Russia. The most famous one was the fourth daughter of Nicholas II, the last Russian Tsar. Her full title was Her Imperial Highness The Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicolaievna of Russia (b. June 18, 1901, believed to have died July 17, 1918.) After the Imperial family was executed in 1918 there have been several people who claimed to be Anastasia, but they either lacked proof, or were proven to be impostors. Recent archaeological research in July and August 2007 at the execution site in Ekaterinburg, Russia discovered remains believed to be those of Anastasia. DNA testing results from DNA submitted by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, first cousin to the children of the Tsar and Empress, have proven the remains are those of two of the Tsar's children. The male remains were those of the Tsarevitch Alexei, while the female ones were initially believed to be Anastasia, but were proven to be s sister Grand Duchess Marie. Anastasia's fate remains uncertain. However, it most likely is nothing like the various fictional accounts.

Who is Anastasia and why was she important?

Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia(Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, (Russian: Великая Княжна Анастасия Николаевна Романова (June 18 [O.S. June 5] 1901 - July 17, 1918), was the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, the last sovereign of Imperial Russia, and his wife Alexandra Fyodorovna.Anastasia was a younger sister of Grand Duchess Olga, Grand Duchess Tatiana and Grand Duchess Maria, and was an elder sister of Alexei Nikolaievitch, Tsarevitch of Russia. She is presumed to have been murdered with her family on July 17, 1918, by forces of the Bolshevik secret police. However, rumors have persisted of her possible escape since 1918, fueled by reports that two sets of remains, identified as Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarevich of Russia, and either Anastasia or her elder sister Maria, were missing from a mass grave found near Ekaterinburg and later identified through DNA testing as the Romanovs. In January 2008 Russian scientists announced that the charred remains of a young boy and a young woman found near Ekaterinburg in August 2007 are most likely those of the thirteen-year-old Tsarevich and one of the four Romanov grand duchesses. Final results of the DNA testing are scheduled to be announced later in April or May 2008.Several women have claimed to have been Anastasia, the most famous of whom was Anna Anderson. Anderson's body was cremated upon her death in 1984. Despite support for her claim from several people who knew Anastasia and denial by many who knew the real Anastasia, DNA testing in 1994 on pieces of Anderson's tissue and hair showed no relation to DNA of the Grand Duchess.[1]The duchess Anastasia was found living here in my country, the Philippines after escaping the revolution back in 1918. She passed away in 1964. She had 9 children. When she first arrived she was placed in a local orphanage before being adopted. She later lived in with a filipino guy.
