Not many people think Ned Kelly was a hero. There is a misconception that Kelly gave some of his stolen proceeds to the poor. On the contrary, Ned Kelly did not steal from the rich and give to the poor. He just stole, and he didn't care who he stole from, although admittedly he did not target struggling farmers. He certainly didn't give the proceeds to the poor, but kept it for himself and his own family. He was a thief and a murderer, yet has been elevated by some misguided people to the status of "hero".

The above answer is a fallacy. Ned Kelly did not rob from the rich and give to the poor. He robbed from whomever he felt like, and apart from his own family, he did not give away any of his plunder.
