The Hmong had a long previous history of serving as mercenaries for the French in Southeast Asia. They were in action with the French at Dien Bien Phu and when the US came in, it was a natural for them to seek employment with this new military force.
Look it up and you will see that the US government was shady and was involved in bringing opium to the states in their planes, and using Hmong people for militant duties with promises of bringing them back with them..Instead they got abandoned, and many were killed for siding with the Americans. Some things make me wish i wasn't born into this country.
can someone tell me where i can find the US government was shady and was involved in bringing opium to the states in their planes, and using Hmong people for militant duties with promises of bringing them back with them, instead they got abandoned, and many were killed for siding with the Americans? Please let me know at kong_k22@hotmail.com because I'm going to write an essay about Vietnam War.
Are these the Montagnards? (French for mountain people). GIs in country only met up Montagnards or North (NVA) & South Vietnamese. Hmong people are probably the ones working with CIA in Laos. If so its because the NVA were all over the place in Laos (protecting & reinforcing their HCM trail in addition to their 2 Armored Tank Regiments hidden in that country). Montagnards and Hmongs (if in South Vietnam) were involved usually if the fighting entered their territory. Translation: Wrong place at the wrong time.

Hmong is not an official language in any country, but is spoken by the Hmong people of China (Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Guangxi Provinces) northern Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and the United States (who are primarily emigrants following the Second Indochinese War - a.k.a Vietnam War in the USA).

Due to many wars with China and other Asian nations, they have fled to live in the mountainous regions of SE Asia. During Vietnam war the Hmong since found refuge in many European countries such as France, Australia, and United States. There are many dilects of Hmong spoken worldwide by the Hmong race. The Hmong were the hill people of Laos and helped Americans in the Vietnam war. When Vietnam fell to the communist they were persecuted, so the United States offered them a place to come to for their help. Several million Hmong have come to the United States to start new lives because it isn’t safe to live in Laos.
In some forms or another but limited. Cal is making the most progress as they are encouraging History classes to include the role of the Hmong during the Vietnam war.
