The Tea Act is when the American colony was taxed for every load of tea that was brought into the port, especially Boston Harbor. The Tea Tax put it out of the buying range of the most colonistd. Also, the colonists were tired of being taxed without being consulted. That's why we have no taxation without representation, although in ,any cases taxes are passed anyway, despite verbal protest.
Because a famous British tea company was not getting much money because the colonists were furious at the Britsh, (Quartering act, stamp act etc.) and bought tea from other companies. The tea act was made so that colonists could only buy tea from that one Tea company.

The Tea Act of 1773 gave British tea companies a hegemony over all the American tea trade. The Tea Act was created to provide protection for the British East India Tea Company, which was struggling against competition, as well as a way to tax the colonists.
The colonist and the East India Tea Company were the main character in the Tea Act
U.S. Colonists protested the Tea Act, which was imposed on them by England. It created a monopoly that allowed only the East India Trading Company to trade tea with the colonists. This allowed the company the ability to charge whatever they pleased for the tea. The colonists protested the Tea Act through the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was a protest in which Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Native American warriors and boarded three British cargo ships, dumping all of their tea into the harbor.
The tea act was the act of the American colonists rebelling against the British for taxation without representation on tea, it was also an act of freedom from Britain.
