the Treaty of Versailles was very one sided, while the allies gained much by the treaty, Germany and Austro-Hungary was forced to split into many other countries & Germany had to take full responsibility for the war and pay war reparations to the allied contrives. (except for the US). They also had to disarm all of their weapons.
