In April of 1775 the British were marching to Concord to arrest Sam Adams and find the weapons that were hidden there. As they marched from Boston they went through Lexington and 77 colonial men were waiting on the green. A shot rang out and the first battle of the revolution happened. Soon after the British continued on to Concord and on the Concord bridge met more colonial men. Shots were fired again and as the troops marched back to Boston they were shot at all along the road by men behind trees and fences. The Declaration of Independence was written in July 1776 and soon after the British began a siege of Boston. Bunker Hill was one of the high points in the area and the colonial volunteers soon established a hold on the hill. The British attacked their positions and the men on the hill held them off until they ran out of ammunition. Most of the men were killed and the hill was held by the British until they left. This battle convinced the King that the colonies were serious about independence and not acting like "spoiled children " as he once stated.
Lexington and Concord began the armed conflict. Bunker Hill showed the Patriots' determination to stand up to overwhelming odds. Saratoga provided a major victory that brought France into the war on America's side. The British surrender at Yorktown effectively ended the war.
Both of these battles were important for the American Revolutionary War. It was vital for the Colony's citizens to have the courage to do battle with the world's strongest nation. These battles and so many others showed the British that the Americans were not afraid to fight.
they and some were the turning point of the rev. war
winning it. NO, the Battle of Yorktown and the Battle of Saratoga Battle of Saratoga - because if the colonists had not won it they might not have had hope of winning the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Yorktown - because that was the last major battle of the Revolutionary War and the Colonists won it - this was written by a different person than who wrote, (stupidly), winning it
Two key victories for the continental army
Well according to what I've learnt and researched in months, it's obviously med.
There were 7 major battles in the revolutionary war, Lexington and Concord,Bunkerhill,Trenton,Princeton,Brandywine and Germantown, Saratoga, and most importantly Yorktown
The battle at Lexington/concord because it was the first big American win. It proved to France that we deserved their supplies and aid; they gave us aid after they knew our victory. The Battle of Yorktown is important because that was the war in which we won our freedom.
