Why were Great Britain and United States allied with the Soviet Union during WW2?
Good Question. The Soviet Union had made an alliance with Germany and had even worked together with them to defeat Poland. But after that, Germany turned against the Soviet Union and invaded it in 1941. The other Allies---Great Britain, United States and France---realized that they needed the manpower of the Soviet Union to defeat Germany. The Allies may not have trusted them. But the Russians were already fighting the Germans on the ground and that would keep the Germans busy until the Allies could build up their forces and fight their way closer to Germany thru Italy.
At the beginning of WW2, Communism was not a treat at that time because the Soviet Union was not a major power until after the war ended.
