Answer 1

Mohammed was violating one of the major "understandings" in Mecca which was that every religion that wanted to pray in Mecca had a right to. Most of those religions were polytheist and henotheist. Therefore, Mohammed advocating for a strict form of monotheism threatened to throw off this balance.

The reason that the merchants were hostile to this religious issue was that the religious nature of Mecca made it one of the only violence-free areas of Arabia. (No religion wanted to fight on holy ground.) Therefore, Mecca was one of the only areas in Arabia where trade could be conducted in Pre-Islamic Arabia without fear of robbery. Mohammed's upsetting of this situation would drastically cut into their earnings. This was their primary reason for hating him.

Some merchants, additionally, rejected Mohammed's message and preferred to worship their gods. Therefore, Mohammed's consistent preaching angered and annoyed them.

Alternative Theory

I have conducted some study in this area and the evidence shows that Muhammad may have actually taught a false doctrine.

These merchant may have been suspicious for the following reasons:

FYI, the Qur'an is actually documented as a Papal Conspiracy to control the Barbarian masses, hence it's resemblance to The Holy Bible.

According to sources, the Qur'an was introduced to 'Muhammad' by the parental cousin( 'Waraka ibn Nawfal' ), of his first wife 'Kadijah'.

'Waraka' was a Catholic priest living in Mecca, and one who had made detailed studies of the Gospels and the Old Testament scriptures.

He was the first to recognized Muhammad's call to prophecy as authentic and islamic tradition recounts Waraka saying: "There has come to him the greatest Law that came to Moses; surely he is the prophet of this people".

What the people didn't know, was that Waraka had been covertly recruited by Jesuit Monks to present the Barbarians with their own religion through Muhammad, with a proviso that the Papacy remain Sovereign.

However, after the death of Muhammad the Barbarians refused to recognise this agreement, and the Papacy reacted with swift vengeance through the Crusade Wars, which claimed the lives of millions.

History supports this record of genocide by these so-called Christians, who committed these attrocities against an innocent race.

"Christians" they may have called themselves, but whether they were followers of CHRIST or not may be up to history to decide!
