Sounds like your rotors need to be turned (replaced if necessary). Does the shake happen worse when braking at higher speeds? Id recommend you pull the rotors off and check for variances in thickness with a proper guage, get them turned, and go from there.
AnswerI agree. Sounds like the rotors are warpped.I've had this problem and it turned out it was a bad caliper Do any of the wheels smoke when you stop ? Do you have a strong smell from any of the wheels? I would check to see if any of the wheels are locked up or rotate harder than should be.
There should be an alignment mark on the steering shaft and the steering wheel.
Remove horn ring or button (twist to remove) Remove center bolt on steering wheel Mark location of wheel in relation to steering column shaft for proper re-install Get and attach a steering wheel puller Tighten nut on wheel puller until steering wheel "pops" off
I had to replace a wiper switch on a 1992 Chevrolet Full size pick-up, and to do so, the steering wheel had to be removed. I think the models are similar. To begin, remove the horn cap, and in some models you may have to remove the attached wire. Go to autozone rent a "steering wheel puller" It has two rods the go in to the ones on the steering wheel and a center bolt that you turn to remove the steering wheel. Before you remove the steering mark where the steering wheel lines up with the steering column with tape. Good luck! SQUEAK = FAULTY STEERING WEEL PUMP ,,,change it .
Directly below the steering wheel, under the dash, inline this the steering column.
go to lincolnsonline.com you will find the complete steps there
Assuming that you are able to remove the steering wheel with a steering wheel puller is should be bolts and wiring harnesses. Nothing to complex just be sure you mark the steering wheel were you took it off on the wheel and the column so you put it in the same spot or your wheel will be off while your car goes straight..
The only special tool you need is a steering wheel pull. You can usually get a loaner from the parts place. To take the steering wheel off first you need to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 5 minutes to disrupt the current to the airbags so they won't blow on you. Then, you take the horn button loose and disconnect the wiring to it. Then pull the airbag off by taking 2 bolts off the back of the steering wheel. Then disconnect the wiring to the air bag. Mark the position of the steering wheel on the shaft so you can get it back on straight. Then put the puller on the steering wheel and pull it off. Piece of cake!
There is only on lever on the left side of the steering wheel. That's the turn signal. Push the turn signal straight back until the steering wheel responds. Don't be afraid of damaging the turn signal.
This requires basic mechanical skills and a steering wheel puller set.Remove the cover for the centre of the steering wheel. This will either pop off by pulling or turn of by turning 30 to 45 Degrees to left. There will probably be a wire that needs to be unplugged underneath. There may be safety clip at the top of the steering column shaft in the centre of the wheel, it will need to be removed. The nut will need to be backed off, do not use the steering wheel lock to hold the wheel while you crank on the nut.Be sure to mark the shaft and wheel so you can reinstall at the correct spot.Use the puller set and the correct bolts from the set to remove the wheel.
From 1984 to 1989 they did not have any airbags but 1990 - 1992 they had only one in the steering wheel...
