Its probably that your tansmission is shot, either that or you havnt changed the Transmission Fluid and it may be dirty and built up and or the filter hasn't been changed in a while. If you look at the transmission fluid and its not a redish color and its like brown almost a oil color than you will have to bleed it out and refill with fresh transmission fluid.
It is a 4 speed automatic. Therefore it will shift 3 times. It will shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th.
Check the fluid level first, it may be low or empty.
I have a similar issue my '88 accord LXI automatic does not have reverse and it grinds in park and drive. Told the shift fork in the transmission and shift for bushing are going out and the tranny needed to be rebiult

please remember to always have your foot on the brake.. and your vehicle in park this is part of honda's safety interlock system.
Sport. It changes the shift pattern of the automatic transmission. You can turn this on or off.

No not all coupes ate stick shift I have a 1992 accord coupe it was auto until I swapped it out to a stick shift
The transmission is equipped with a relay switch that senses when the brake is applied. If the sensor is bad the transmission will not shift out of park.
The 1990 Honda Accord does not have a cabin filter.
This is to prevent the car from going into gear when it is not meant to. You must have the key in the on position before you can move the vehicle out of park.
