Check the 4X4 actuator. I found somewhere online that is goes out a lot. It costs about $114.
The Passport has no driving problem as long as it doesn't come to a stop, when that happens it will not go again until the winter drive button is pushed.

mite have bad 4x4 transfer case or you could have a bad switch to it or mabey a fuse
If it's a v8 it will have a 5.7 liter 350
Try replacing the four wheel drive fuse
I have a 4 wheel drive Chevy Blazer 2001 that got stuck in 4 wheel drive, the only way I got it out was to put it into neutral and switch the 4 wheel drive button. It worked!!
It was pushed by many soldiers.
The choke button (you can think of it like a choke...but it is injection timing advance) must be pulled out and left out as the engine warms up and then you can slowly push it in. I drive with the button pulled out and do several blocks before the button is pushed halfway in (in the winter in the snow) and may drive 5 miles before I push it all the way in. Or even forget about it being out. No harm.
No , a 1986 Chevy Caprice is REAR wheel drive
