There is a good chance that it is a anti-theft model. If it is, you will need the code to use the system.
It depends on the make/model of the CD Changer. Most aftermarket headunits have a compatible manufacture made changer. If you do not have a compatible unit you can purchase an FM Modulator for that changer. The modulator takes the signal and broadcasts it over a radio frequency.
that usually means your radio can have a disc changer added to it. a ford compatible disc changer. although, it may be a downgraded version which only shows the features but do not work.
i have a 99 continental and it has a factory CD changer mounted in the trunk. i have seen some mounted in the center counsel as well.
If I remember correctly, in the trunk under the CD changer
Take another CD put it partically into the CD slot and try and eject the stuck one's. The CD's will grip together and allow you to pull the stuck one's out. It works this used to happen to me all the time using Bootleg CD's.
I have a 2001 MAZDA tRIBUTE WITH A FACTORY 6 DISK CD CHANGER. Can't get cds to load or eject. Radio and cassteet player work fine.
for the front, just slide it in the slot, for the changer, press the eject buttong and the CD holder ("cassette") will come out. Put the cds in the cassette and put the cassette back in the changer
"When you go to change the radio in a 2001 Jetta with a Monsoon system is ther anyway to keep the 6 disc CD changer and add a new head unit with subs and new speakers?"
Push "Eject" - top row of buttons on the radio- far right button. Ignition/key does not have to be on to "eject" the CD.

When the radio is on the numbers located on the head unit (1,2,3,4,5,6) control what CD in the changer that you want to hear. the arrow buttons change the track (obviously). And "mode" will change the source form CD, AM, FM, FMII, FMIII)
Check owner's manual. There is no CD changer fuse it gets power from the radio if the radio is on, there is some other problem with the CD changer.

Your best bet would be to find the CD changer the same as the brand of your radio. Such as Kenwood radio, get a kenwood CD changer. The factory CD changer will not work with most newer radios installed. And unless you like running wires to the back of your SUV it would save you lots of time to get another CD changer. That is what I did and it works just fine.
The CD player, if it has one, is right in the radio. If you mean the changer, look below that or under the passenger seat.
i believe you can but just make sure the radio is the same model and the one your taking out
