There is no water or metal shavings in the oil will take a closer look at the wires Can not do compression test What did you mean by plug the plug depending on how overheated it was will lead to an answer. Check the wires around the motor, see if any have been melted/broken causing a short. The other things are blow head gasket, warped head, cracked block. If you know how you can do a wet and dry compression check. the other thing to look for is to plug the plug, crank the motor to see if water is on top of the piston.. hope it helps. duboff
check if it is getting fire
If the car overheated, you may have warped the aluminum head. You may have to have the head shaved and a new head gasket put in.
It could possibly be the timing belt. Chevrolet recommends replacing it every 60,000 miles.
Are you sure it just didnt overheat, perhaps you broke the camshaft drive belt? You say it turns over, as it always did or is it turning over faster? In checking under the hood did you accidently disconnect any wires?
my 97 did the same thing after it overheated. i let it set for months thinking i had blown the motor. come to find out my water pump locked up and broke my timing belt. replaced the belt and it started right up
If it won't even turn over, then I would suspect your nonstock engine got severely overheated and warped or welded something important. Engine's gotta come out. If it turns over slowly, maybe the battery got run down because the alternator wasn't turning and therefore not charging.
Assuming you replaced the pump and all is well in the water department - there may be a connector, vacume hose orsomething disconnected when you did the work. Was it badly overheated. Replace the oil and maybe the trans fluids also.
There is no ETF light on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. But there is an ETS light which stands for 'electronic traction system'. This light turns on where there is a problem with the brake system.
either your motor burnt out or you have a faulty switch that turns them on. Or check the fuse
this is what ours was doing we are told it is the fuel pump. we are having ours replaced.
If someone turns against you, they start behaving bad. They start ignoring you and not caring for you.
Perhaps starter is getting weak and needs replacing--takes more effort to start hot engine
