I am having the same problem, i was told the ECU or PCM is bad... under 300 at auto parts place, i am going to slave a new one in, but was told to make sure i get the correct one for that vehicle. If it works i will let you know

have vehicle scanned with ABS scanner to determine the problem
Bring t a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine the problem

You got to use a OBD 2 code reader or scanner
You need a OBD2 scanner/code reader to get stored codes and to erase them
It allows the OBD II scanner to connect to your Ford Explorer to " read " any trouble codes when the check engine light comes on for one thing
Connected to the master cyclinder.
You will need an OBD2 scanner to retrieve the code that has been set.
The EEC test connector is in the engine compartment in front of the power distribution box (Helpfull)
Under hood in a plastic box that is connected to throttle body.
Use a code scanner to see what the computer says is wrong.
