Why wont my computer let me play any online games or watch videos?

It depends on the kind of videos you are trying to watch. You probably need to download appropriate codecs. Try ones that are shorter.

AnswerIn order to watch a video on your computer you need 3 things. The basic multimedia system files installed with your Operating system, the specific video codecs, and an appropriate media player.

Some videos can only be played by specific players. For example, RealMedia files (rm, rl, etc. ) can usually only be played by either RealPlayer or Realplayer Alternative. Quicktime files have a .qt extension. Google the file extension to see if that's the problem.

If its an *.avi or *.mpg, then its probably going to be a codec issue since Windows Media Player would be able to play them otherwise.

To determine the video codecs, you can use GSpot (yes that's the actual name) which can be downloaded at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Once you know what codec its using, Google the codec. For example, xvid and Divx files can have avi extension but can't be played until you've downloaded the XVid and Divx codecs, or a media player that includes it. You can also check www.free-codecs.com for a specific one.
