if this system uses dex-cool flush the system
When you have the heater on, does it just blow any air at all? or no air?
if it doesn't heat your heater core is most likely clogged and if it doesn't blow at all then the blower is messed up.
Try replacing the temperature control switch for the rear control cluster. Hope that that's the fix. Less than $20.
get a new heater switch
I had a similar problem in a 1998 GMC sierra. We found the switch that controls the temperature was bad. The only other thing that I know of is a vac. controlled device called a motor may be bad but those usually control where the air blows, not the temperature.
Check your anti-freeze levels
check heater fan to see if it is working.
Low coolant in the system. Defective heater control valve. Clogged heater core.
Likely heater core. I had same problem with 1996 S-10 with 4.3L.
Because your thermostat is probably stuck open
Low on coolant. Bad thermostat. Plugged heater core. Temp blend door inop.
The heater valve could be failing to open for one reason or another.
