Check to see if stop lights are working - same fuse controls both shift interlock and stop lights
It might be the brake pedal switch
From the owner's manual 2001 Honda Odyssey: 1. Set the Parking brake. 2. Remove the key from the ignition switch. 3. Place a cloth on the edge of the shift lock release slot cover on the steering column. Remove the cover by carefully prying on the edge with a small flat-tipped screwdriver. 4. Insert the key in the Shift Lock Release slot. 5. Push down on the key while you pull the shift lever towards you and move it out of Park to Neutral. 6. Remove the key from the Shift Lock Release slot, then install a new cover. Depress the brake pedal and restart engine. If you need to use the Shift Lock Release, it means your vehicle is developing a problem. Have the vehicle checked by Honda.
It's possible that the cause is a blown-out, center (3rd) brake light. I have a 1994 Accord EX. Same thing happend to me. Annoying!!!! It's a safety feature designed to "force" you to replace the bulb when it dies. Hope this helped.
How do you open your 2006 honda accord trunk when the emergency lock will not work and the remote doesn't open it?
Location of '96 Honda Accord DLC portBeneath the radio, remove the ashtray, and look into the well below. You will see a Diagnostic Port, or you will see a plastic cover over it. You may have to move the shifter to LOW to access the area well enough to see it. Before you do, be sure to set the parking brake securely. You will need to turn the key to the "ACC" or "RUN" position to release the auto shift lever. Alternately you can insert your key into the shift lock release slot next to the shift lever.
The shift lock release is usually a button on the side of a shifter. The shift lock release button needs to be pushed in before the car can be moved from Park to another gear.
You don't fix it, you replace the door lock actuator.
you have to remove the lock clinder
is there a shift lock relaese on a 1999 grandam se
No, the Accord is good, solid, basic machinery in the main; nothing tricky.
This is to prevent the car from going into gear when it is not meant to. You must have the key in the on position before you can move the vehicle out of park.
Take the key and insert it into the door lock and turn.
