1999 ford explorer 4.0 manual transmission gear shifter wont fit on shaft
If second is the only gear that does not work, there is an internal failure. The transmission will need repaired or replaced.
It is quite possible that your clutch is not disengaging the transmission from the motor. Also, your synchros could be bad, which would not allow it to go into gear.
It means you have a transmission problem. Seek professional help.
it wont change gear properly. if at all,,, because of the oil thickness
most likely the clutch & pressure plate is shot.
you either got air in the hydrolic clutch or the hydrolic clyinder is out .check your fluid level.
Try to change the transmission filter, or check the shifting linkage.
could be the shifter linkage or cable itself also check fluid level if it is a automatic transmission or if it is a manual transmission could be clutch and throwout bearing
did the clutch cable come off? (if its a manual) that or there is a problem with the transmission.
You may have a broken transmission or be low on transmission fluid.
transmission goes into gear but wont hardly move
