that is a very good question, because they are usually very dependable. We have a 1999 3.3 v6 and this happened to us and it turned out to be the power module in the distributor cost me $500 if I would have had the 3.0 engine it would have cost me $50 just for the part its self. on a 3.3 everything in the distributor comes as a package together.

Ahh yes!! Don't you just love electronically controlled cars ? Your problem could be caused by anything between the front and rear bumpers. Blown fuses to the ECM or fuel pump. Faulty fuel pump or relay. Broken timing belt. Any one of a dozen sensors. And yes, the distributor must be replaced in 3.3 engine if the diagnosis points to a power module or the camshaft position sensor.
