I would like to know that answer as well. My speedometer isn't even close to accurate. Also, my brake light stays on now. I can reset it by disconnecting the battery, but about 10 - 15 miles later, it comes back on. These issues occurred at the same time. It may be related to me towing a trailer and connecting the lights a short time before. Any assistance would be appreciated.

You didn't mention what year the S10 is but, yours probably doesn't have a cable driven speedometer. It is electronic.
A speedometer cable for a 2000 S10 can be purchased from any auto parts store. If not kept in stock, the store can special order the part.

I have the same problem replaced speedometer clurstor got one out of wrecking took awhile to find one that worked ps you chang the sensor on the transimission . hopes this hepls
If both the speedometer and the odometer work on and off, I would blame the vehicle speed sensor. If only the speedometer is acting up, I would blame the cluster.
Broken tooth in speedometer head. Replace speedometer head
No, the wheel speed sensors monitor the wheel speed for the ABS and the TCS. The speed sensor mounted in the transmission monitors the vehicle speed for the speedometer/odometer and transmission controls.
If both the speedometer and the odometer do not work I would suspect the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) located on the tail shaft of the transmission is at fault. If only the speedometer doesn't work it's probably a problem with the dash cluster.
