have mechanic search for a GOVERNOR control switch. this device is an installed component that shuts down the engine at a specified cut-off limit, thus governing your speed check your catalytic converter. i had this problem and found out that every time i would step on it, a broken piece of it would blow up blocking the exhaust flow and when letting off the gas, would fall back down
My 1989 chevy s10 doesn't accelerate quckly,why is this?

the fuel filter has been changed.
Change the fuel filter
My guess would be wheel balance.
Could be a faulty spark plug or spark plug wire.

If the acceleration occurs when you are in a turn you probably have a broken motor mount.
you probably threw a rod out, get it to a mechanic ASAP or you will have more problems.
check your drive chaft
check cat converter if it has 75000 miles or more
have you checked to make shure that hte cruise control isn't on if your vehicle has one?

There is a sensor on most modern cars which turns on the fan when the coolant temperature reaches a certain value. If this sensor is bad, the fan may run continously.
I suspect a weak fuel pump. It will probably get worse; have it checked before it leaves you stranded.
I have a 1990 3.1 and what it turned out to be was the head gasket was leaking now it runs fine

sounds like a knock sensor is service light on
Transmission might be going out, remove some of the transmission fluid and replace it with some transmedic. If you're not mechanically inclined, take it to Midas or someplace and they can do it for you. :)
Crack in intake or exhust, or belt glazing- Check all the intake and exhust bolts.
i work at a Chevy dealership and have seen this many times. 1 of ur frt drive axle shafts is bad. raise vehicle and u can usually grab axle shaft and move which 1 is bad
Check your universal joints for wear.
I would start by checking the power steering fluid, sounds like the fluid may be low.
