Why would a casual friend ask you to marry him when you have not dated or even been interested in him and why would he continue to ask even when you've told him no over 20 times?

This friendship may appear casual to you, but obviously not to him. It can often happen when a man and woman are friends that one of the two or even perhaps both start to have stronger feelings. It appears you haven't been looking and listening around you because the signs were always there. Put yourself in his shoes. Haven't you ever loved someone a great deal and perhaps been told "no?" It hurts! He could be lonely, he could have dreams and hopes of changing your mind. He's probably had deep feelings for you for a long while, but was too afraid of a disappointing answer and his nightmare came true. Perhaps you are giving off the wrong signals. Cut this poor guy some slack and realize that his feelings count too, so try to let him down easy. Have a talk with him and tell him, that you have no plans to marry at this time, and it bothers you that he continues to ask. Tell him it's nothing more than a friendship and if he can't accept this then it's time for both of you to move in difference directions.
