they do it to get rid of excess hair and they normally put their tails between their legs
It's stressed out.
it was so cold even the dog started to shiver
They can if they are cold or scared, just like any other dog.
Usually they shake or tremble when they are anxious. Some dogs tremble when riding in the car, others when they hear thunder. Some dogs are very insecure and would benefit from wearing a compression garment, like a thundershirt.
It depends on what type of dog it is. If it is a chihuahua, the tiny dog it always shakes. If it is Siberian husky, they don't shake.
Dogs will if they are sick, but also if they are stresses or scared.
It's either scared, cold, or very sick.
well, if your dog shivers a lot that can only mean two things,..... 1. Your dog is cold, and that your dog has just came out of a wet place 2. Its a sign of movement some dogs hate when they are in water and to keep warm they shiver hope tht helps you my name is crystal by the way =)
Kind doesn't really matter. But i would guess a child could be scared of a big, mean, looking dog... Depends who the child is. One thing for sure is, a child would be scared of a aggressive dog.
More than likely, the dog is cold. Smaller dogs are usually more succeptiable to cold than larger dogs. Also the dog could be nervous or scared.
The most obvious reason would be that perhaps your dog is cold, for reasons being of cool weather conditions (as they shiver and tremble just like humans do in the cold), and maybe the trembling is dependant on the length of your dog's coat, and if it is paticularly short; it is obvious it is more likely to feel the cold. Or perhaps your dog has lost weight and does not have enough fat on him/her to shield itself from the bitterness of the cold. However, more serious issues could concern trembling as one of the symptoms of chronic kidney failure, and other illnesses and diseases like other internal organ failure. Another likely cause of this tremble or shake could be caused by anxiety - perhaps another pet causing him/her to be nervous could be the reason and although this will probably not be the case; physically punishing your dog could cause him to be nervous and frightened in your presence. Or your dog might simply be in pain, and may have something stuck in his/her paw, or aching legs or other related type issues. If the trembling continues or is currently continuous, consult a vet and action will be taken.
If it's hurt and shivering then it could be going into shock. YES!!! It could be either hurt or it could be scared cause it hears thunder. My dog shivers because he is scared of the thunder, though i can't here it he can hear it. His tail shakes too but he ducks it down by his butt and keeps it across it's belly.
Thunder scares dogs for many reasons. Number one, their hearing is so much better than ours which makes the noise ten times louder. Also, the fact that they cannot see it probably makes them scared as well. My oldest dog was absolutely terrified of thunder because a tree had fallen over in our yard during a storm. She thought that every time thunder hit, a tree would fall. Now, after many years, she is not as afraid.
