It's possible the vet needed a urine sample. Or wished to see if it took place without pain or discomfort.
Most all veterinarians are in the profession for love of the animals, while they have to learn as much as Doctors, they don't get paid as much. If you ask the vet why they are doing something, they'll tell you. They don't mind.
