you probably have a bad fuse. I would check that first if i were you.
Bad bulbs? Sockets corroded?
Check the stoplight switch at the upper end of the brake pedal - common problem
The whole turn signal arm unit needs to be replaced
The only thing common to all those lights (but not to the center brake light) is the hazard switch. I'd check that next. On my 96 Century the hazards override the signals and brake lights meaning that the signals and brake lights must be wired into the hazard switch somehow.

I just took it to a garage today and was told it needed a turn signal assm. The price would be 780.00. I paid 89.99 for this info. and brought my car home. I had never tried the hazard lights and after reading this I went out to try my hazard lights. I found the hazard button stuck. after pushing it down forcefully the hazard lights went on and, now I have brake lights. This may be temporary I don't know, but I now have fully fuctioning lights. I had the same problem with my 99 grand prix and changed bulbs brake light swith , fuses and found out that it was a multi - function switch that was causing my brake lights not to work it was a little expensive but you need brake lights!I too had the same problem. I did the exact same thing as stated above, the hazard button was hard to push down, after I got it down, I had fully functioning brake lights. I would like to hear from the previous poster as to if this fixed his problem, or did it happen again?
My 92 Silverado right front brake sticking why
I am having the same trouble. My brake lights work with the light switch for nighttime driving, but only far right brake light works when i pres brake pedal. Reverse lights dont work at all. Turn signals and hazard light work.
Answerthe brake light switch down at the brake pedal is most likely bad .AnswerFirst, use a test light to check to see if the bulbs are getting power. If not, check the stop light switch. This is the switch connected to the brake pedal. When the brake pedal is pushed, this switch closes the circut and causes the brake lights to come on.AnswerThe brake lights are wired through the hazard switch, Turn the hazard lights on and off several times, the brake lights should start working.the hazzard swith has a little plastic piece that dry rots over time, go to junkyard and by the switch, very simole job, cost me 25 cents

brake switch ???
Try replacing the hazard flasher. If that does not work, double-check to see that you have the proper bulbs and fuses installed for the brake lamp circuit.
fuse, bulbs
