IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROMPTED YOU TO CHNGE THESE ITEMS THEN YOU SHOULD GET AN ENGINE ANYLIZER FOR YOUR VEHICLE AND CHECK THE CODE FOR THE REASON THE LIGHT IS ON. THE CODE READER CAN BE PURCHASED AT Walmart FOR ABOUT $30 TO $60 DEPENDING ON CAR MAKE AND TYPE OF TESTER. MY GUESS IS THAT IT COULD BE ONE OF THE ELECTRONICS WITHIN THE SYSTEM THAT HAS GONE BAD THAT HAS THE LIGHT COMING ON. YOU WILL NOT KNOW FOR SURE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN TESTED FOR THE CODE. IN ADDITION YOU CAN TAKE IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PPROBLEM IS FOR YOU AND YOU CAN THEN USE THE INFO TO DO THE WORK YOURSELF. THE COST OF THIS DIAGNOTIC FROM THE AUTO SHOP WILL RANGE FROM $80 TO $120 DEPENDING ON THE SHOP. NO REPAIRS INCLUDED.

Will check engine light go off after I drive awhile since it came on after the battery was changed?

Replacing the battery should not have triggered the check engine light. The check engine light comes on when there is a problem with the emission system. Saying that, I would drive it for a while to see if the light does go out. If the light does not go out have the ECU scanned to retrieve the trouble code. Then use this code to diagnose the problem.
