Does it have gasoline in the tank? If so, then take off a spark plug wire and using insulated pliers hold it real close to the engine a fraction of an inch away. Have someone else try to start your car and see if there is a spark. If there is no spark, it is in your electrical system. Otherwise, it could be that your fuel injectors are clogged up. Just because you hear the fuel pump running does not mean fuel is getting into your cylinders.
Bad crank position sensor
A bad cam or crank sensor can cause a no start, but the engine will still crank or turn over.
Check the 2001 Grand Ams crank shaft position sensor first. If the sensor is bad then the engine will not get fire or start.
Does it crank faster than normal? perhaps timing chain Check for fuel Check for spark
mine did that and i replaced the crank shaft sensor, problem was fixed
Cranks and turn over are the same thing. It may crank or turn over and not start. If that is the case, find out if it needs fire or fuel and go from there.
I had this problem repaired today on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The signs I had were: 1. Jeep was running fine, Parked it in the garage. 2. The next morning it would crank fine but would not start at all. - As my fuel was low at the time I assumed I was out of fuel but after filling it that proved not to be the problem. - In the years I have had the jeep it often takes two attempts to start the vehicle. That symptom seemed to come and go and I cannot directly attribute that to the Crank sensor problem but, it may be of use as background information.
No , it would crank , but if there was no power getting to the electric fuel pump it would not start
on the 4.0 jeep, if it cranks, but wont start, try replacing the crank sensor, located at the top rear of the engine, at the transmission
bad crank sensor would be a good start its $20 bucks at orilleys auto store also the wiring from the crank sensor to the coil packs could be coroded replace both and that should do ya
yes.
There is many possibilities. best place to start is making sure you have fuel, and spark. it would help to know if it will crank but not start, no crank, etc,
