Why would power steering fluid be pushed out of the top of reservoir after I turn my 2001 Ford Taurus 3.0 DOHC off.?

My r31 did this today i hear it could be a leak on the suction side of the system or the pump its self has failed im going to flush it and bleed all the line be i take the pump off
