Where is the fuel filter light on the dash?

Never seen a vehicle with a fuel filter light on the dash. Not to say there isn't one, but I have never seen one myself nor have I heard of a vehicle with such a light.

Will a headlight out cause your service vehicle soon light to come on?

Yes it will. The Service Vehicle Soon light is for the BCM (Body Control module. If any bulbs go out, like the headlights, turn signals, reverse lights, etc, it will trigger the SVS light. The BCMs in newer cars control ALL lighting. This is why in newer cars, if you leave the dome light or headlights on, you can never run your battery down because the BCM shuts it off before it can drain the battery. Hope this helps Matt

Can you drive a car without power steering working?

Yes, but it should be looked at as soon as possible. This is because it is a safety hazard. Vehicles that originally had power steering installed and then it fails does not drive like a vehicle that never had power steering. There is s direct relationship between the speed (or movement in reality) of the vehicle and the ease of turning it without power steering assist (or when your power steering is disabled). If you are at a stop for instance, turning the wheel is much more difficult then a moving vehicle and turning it and this should be taken into account when driving a vehicle without power steering.

How long should jump-leads be left on a dead battery before it will be fully charged?

Recharging a dead battery by using jumper cables connected to another vehicle is a very bad idea. You are overworking the alternator on the donor vehicle and can very well destroy that alternator. Recharge a dead battery with a battery charger and never with another vehicle.

Where is the on-star battery on 2006 rendezvous?

Their is a backup battery system built into the On-Star module. It should never need replacing over the life of the vehicle.

Why does the oil light and battery light come on when you turn your key but not start the vehicle in your 1985 chevy caprice?

That is exactly what it is suppose to do. This allows you to check and see if the lights are working properly. If they did not come on and then go off when you start the engine, you would never know if the bulbs were working properly.

Does the engine need to be running when you disconnect the positive battery cable to shut off the check engine light?

No. To erase codes form an OBD-1 vehicle (made before 1996), the engine does not need to be running. On a side note, NEVER disconnect the battery while the engine is running; it will damage the computer.

How do you reset the oxygen sensor light on an Isuzu?

Never heard of nor have I seen an Oxygen Sensor light. If you are referring to the Check Engine Light, then that light comes on when there is a problem with the emissions controls. It may be a bad O2 Sensor or it may be many other things. Don't assume the O2 sensor is bad. Depending on the year vehicle you own, which you failed to mention, you reset the light on most 1995 & older vehicles by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. On most 1996 & newer vehicle, you reset the light with an OBD2 scan tool.

Where is the battery temperature sensor located on Dodge Dakota?

Not 100% sure, but I've never heard of any such device on any vehicle. Are you asking the right question? There isn't one! If a Dodge has a battery temp sensor it is located in the battery box under the battery.

Can an alternator charge a car battery?

That is the purpose of an alternator. The keep the battery charged and to run all the electrics on the vehicle. However it is never a good idea to allow the alternator to charge a dead battery. This will put a strain on the alternator and may damage it.

What causes the battery to go dead every 2 days?

Dead cell in the battery or something is on pulling power from the battery. Examples are, trunk, under hood, glove box, brake, or dome light. Most likely the alternator is not charging the battery and would cause battery failure within 2 days of driving. A vehicle that sits with a constant drain (not including lights) will take over a week to drain the battery. I am sure the owner of the vehicle would know if the lights were on or not. I beg to differ. If the under-hood, trunk, or glovebox light is on the owner would never know this. If the alternator were not charging the battery the red charging system light would be on, which I am sure the owner could easily see. Not to say the alternator cannot be defective if the light is burnt out. A battery with a dead cell will run down overnight every time. Also a trunk or or other under-hood light can easily run a battery down if it is not a very strong fairly new battery. But a defective alternator is not out of the question as it can be strong enough to not turn on the charging system warning light, but weak enough to not keep the battery fully charged. Easy to check the output of the alternator. If you read 13.5 to 16 volts at the battery posts with the engine running the alternator is more than likely good. Less than that or more than that and the alternator is defective.

Why does your battery light coming on in your 1996 explorer?

The same thing happened to me this week with my '96 Explorer . Battery light came on, would not go off. But my amp meter is showing that my alternator is doing its job. I left the lift gate open for about 2 hrs and when I went to start it the battery would not turn the engine over. Jumped it and didn't have a problem...but that battery light was still on. If the serpentine were slipping enough to cause the battery light to stay on it would also be squealing non-stop, so I never thought that. I disconnected the negative battery cable and drove it for about 4 miles with no problems, I figured the alternator was not the problem. Installed a new battery from another vehicle, battery light still stayed on. I then got a piece of scotch brite and die-electric grease and disconnected every ground wire and strap I could find including batt cables. Battery light still on. I then had my son sit in the drivers seat and instructed him to let me know if/when the battery light flickered. With the truck running I started wiggling wires and connectors, when I got to the back of the alternator he told me it blinked. I shut it off, disconnected the neg battery cable, popped the connectors off the back of the alternator cleaned and greased all the connectors. Started the truck the battery light was off and has stayed off.
